A few retail stores have announced that they would be opened on Thanksgiving Day. Most of the stores are using this opportunity to improve their Black Friday weekend revenue.
Despite a growing movement among major U.S. retailers to close shop on Thanksgiving, Macy’s is resisting the movement by opening some of its shops an hour earlier than last year. At least 5 of the retailer locations will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving day, and 3 will stay open all the way until 10 p.m. on Black Friday, a likely forerunner of comparable moves by Macy’s across the country
Toys R Us plans to open its store at 5pm local time on November the 24th. This is the 4th year that the US retailer would open its doors on Thanksgiving Day.
Kohl’s announced that it would once again start its Black Friday doorbuster deals at 6 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving Day.
J.C. Penney also announced, kick off its Black Friday holiday shopping event on Thanksgiving Day, at 3 p.m.
Sears said it would open most of its doors at 6 p.m. local time on Thursday the 24th of Nov., the stores would be opened till 12 a.m. Black Friday. The stores will then close for five hours and open again at 5 a.m.
Target stores will again open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, in what will be the 3rd straight year they’ve done so. Stores will remain open until 10 p.m., 11 p.m. or midnight Black Friday, depending on the location.
It is expected that most of these stores would have long queues. So get in line early enough or do what we do shop online for the door buster deals.
