Snap announced that it had developed a video capturing sunglasses called Spectacles. Spectacles are sunglasses with an incorporated video camera that makes it stress-free to create Memories. Spectacles links straight to Snapchat via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and transfer your Memories directly into the app in our brand new circular video format.
Snap is selling Spectacles in vending machines a very old school approach. The giant vending machine, Snapbots would be deposited soon throughout the united State of America. The first Snapbot would debut at Venice Beach. The machines will only be accessible for a day at each location and would be taken away the next day
People would be able to try the glasses before making a final purchase, with different colors to choose from, the Snapbots comes with the same technology the app uses for its face distorting lenses.
It’s an unconventional way to bring a device like this to market. Most firms marketing hardware basically provide a website. Snapchat and Evan Spiegel like going above the norm. An ephemeral vending machine that uses the company’s face-recognition technology is astoundingly on-brand.
When Spectacles were revealed, Snap said it would be available with controlled distribution. Which makes this more a promotion implementation than a product launch.
You can follow the announcement of Snapbots location on the Spectacles website. The Spectacles cost $129.99.
